So, everyone else was posting their snowpocalypse pictures and I figured I'd do the same.

So, last Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] alyse, Alyse's small person and I went to the Forbidden Corner.

I'd never heard about this place until someone at work started talking about it and it sounded like a lot of fun, so Al and I decided to go.

Dude, this place is fabulous. It feels very Alice Through the Looking Glass and there's just so much stuff hidden away to find. They hand you a leaflet when you go in with various things that you can find (although it doesn't tell you where or how to find them), but there's so much other stuff as well.

It was great fun and we're definitely planning on going back.

A couple of Saturdays ago, I ended up in Tynemouth Priory (as you do) and spent a lot of the time there taking pictures, so I figured I'd spam you with some of them. Image heavy under the various cuts.

Tynemouth Priory... )

And then there was the macro function on the camera...

More pictures! This time of close-up stuff! )

The day we were there, it was rather windy out at sea and you could see the waves crashing over the pier. The gates to the pier were closed and there were guys there stopping people from walking along, and since the waves were so damn impressive, I took photos of those, too...

Rainbow!

I looked out of the window earlier and there was a massive rainbow across the grey sky. So, of course, I grab my camera, dived out in the rain and took a photo ::grin::

I went to Alnwick Garden with [livejournal.com profile] alyse and Alyse's small person today. I slathered myself in factor 50 (seriously, I burn like a burning thing in sun) and classed it as a win for me until I got back home to discover I've managed to burn my back through the shirt I was wearing ::sigh:: Sun: 1, Claire: 0.

However, it was a fun day where [livejournal.com profile] alyse and I sat and wrote porn while small person threw himself with aplomb into the water garden and got soaked ::grin::

Also, we saw ducklings!

Evidence of said ducklings under cut... )

So, back in September I went to Whitby with [livejournal.com profile] alyse, [livejournal.com profile] alinak and [livejournal.com profile] davechicken. Whenst there, we went to the Abbey, where I proceeded to take many pictures. And, yes, I realise this was a while ago, but I'm totally spamming y'all with them.

So, a few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] temaris and I went to a place called Trevose Head, which is quite possibly one of the most picturesque places I've ever been. There's a lighthouse, and we saw three kestrels (at least, we think they were kestrels), two of which stayed around for quite some time hunting.

And since taking many, many photos has been the theme this holiday, here, let me show you the view. And some birds. And a snail. But mainly the view...

Cricket!

So, I was sitting on the front door step earlier (it was sunny and I sit there and play random stuff through YouTube and then sing along ::grin::) and saw what I thought was a leaf blowing across the path. And then it stopped and lifted a leg up. Turns out it was a cricket. Now, the thing is, I've never actually seen a cricket before (much to the amusement of everyone else, who were all "Really?!"), so I did what any normal person would do when confronted by a strange and wondrous creature... I grabbed the camera.

Cricket under cut... and it ain't wearing a hat... )

Only, I figured that was kind of a distance shot, and I'm still in love with the close-up function, so I got a little closer.

More cricket under cut... )

Everyone then mocked me for getting snap-happy. Well, paf I say... 74 pictures of a cricket is totally reasonable ::grin::

ETA: After a couple of comments and looking online, she's more likely a grasshopper than a cricket, as the nearest I could find was the long-winged conehead grasshopper :D
