Rambling January Day 16

So, [personal profile] graculus gave me the easiest and yet the hardest for today with "If you could send a message to you at a younger age (any age, it's up to you how far back you want to go) what advice would you give yourself?"

You know, I typed this one up, and then deleted it, and then retyped it about half a dozen times.

I debated on posting something else. Going for something pithy and witty (because I'm constantly told I'm full of pith and wit).

But, ultimately, I kept coming back to this. So here it stands.

I'd go back to 19 year old me and tell her not be so scared. That when she tells you she loves you, it's not a joke or a mistake, and you should tell her you love her, too. Because in a little over a year you're going to lose her, and there's not a person on this planet that knows how you actually feel when it happens. That the regret you're going to have to this day is that when she was strong enough to reach out, you weren't strong enough to reach back.

If it helps at all, I think that "not able to" is not the same as "not strong enough". It sounds exactly like you would have, if you possibly could.

But mostly: *hugs*.
