Ear or Internet

So, we were talking at work today and the question came up of would you rather lose an ear or the Internet, and there were only two of us who chose the ear option. (The phrase 'Lose the 'net? Are you kidding?! I've got two ears; take one of those!' may have been uttered.)

People seemed quite bemused by the fact that we'd willingly give up a body part if it was between that and never being able to be online ever again. We were rather bemused that they apparently thought we'd have to think about it for more than a nanosecond.

Anyway, I was thinking? Are we freaky? Is this the normal response to the choice between the home of zombie goat bukkake versus a body part? And then I thought, surely we're not the only ones who think that the loss of an ear would be much easier to deal with that losing our beloved broadband connection. Who else would make that choice? Who else is discerning enough, thoughtful enough? Who else spends more time than me reading rampant porn online? A-ha! The flist!

So, tell me: ear or internet?

(When I say lose an ear, I mean chopped off and loss of hearing in that side. You get to chose which side *g*)

Dude. I would so rather lose an ear.

Absolutely!

Ear all the way, baby. I could always get a fake one.

*g* That was mentioned by the guy I work with. He was "Take the ear, I'll get a prosthetic one..."

Dude, ear. I mean you have two! sure it'll make listening to things really weird but put that against no internet, no more p0rn, no more lj, no more flist, no more knowing that there really are people out there as strange as you?

Ear alll the way.

Yup, that was my reasoning. It was like: No Internet? Ever? Dude, take the damn ear!

No contest - an ear! Didn't even have to remotely think about this one.

::shudders at the mere thought of being without the internet::

What seems to have surprised the people we work with is that we didn't even have to think about it. It was like: Ear. Straight off answer. No thought about it :)

I voted for the ear. It is comforting in an odd way that I know people who feel the same way I do about the internet. I've made so many friends, been so may places and learned so many things via the internet. I would feel so isolated (and I live in a big city).

We are in good company.

Exactly. The 'net's my way of keeping in contact with friends. For that, you can take an ear *g*

*waves buh-bye to the ear*

An ear. The only thing they're useful for these days is holding my glasses and earrings. :)

That was the only downside I could see. My glasses would slip, but, hey, there's always sellotape ;)
