McShep Match
Jun. 22nd, 2008 11:32 pmWe're a week into
mcshep_match and so far there have been some fabulous stories posted for the home team. (Yes, of course I'm biased, that's my team ::grin::)
Mission: Improbable, Thief in the Night prompt
The team does Mission: Impossible, and does it damn well! I'm in love with the imagery in the opening scene of this story when John throws the disc out of the car window and speeds away. SGA needs more spy!AUs, especially ones like this.
Shadows Cast by Outward Things, Pound of Flesh prompt
This is a wonderful creepy story that delves into an event in Rodney's childhood and what it's like when you come face-to-face with the childhood fear no one else believed in. I shiver when I read this because it's so delightfully creepy and one of those stories that reaches into the part of you that knows you're afraid of the dark but isn't sure why.
Attention Paid, Dead Ringer prompt
What happens when John comes back from a mission not entirely right, and Rodney's the only one who notices. The beginning section of this has gorgeous moment that in just team in a nutshell.
Near Things, Eleventh Hour prompt
In which both of the boys nearly end up married and you find yourself cheering John on in his big gay fantasy ::grin:: (I may have said, "Oh, John..." at least twice during this, but, trust me, read it and you'll understand.)
Tonight and the Rest of My Life, One for the Road prompt
Rodney becomes allergic to Atlantis. You find yourself feeling so much for John and Rodney, and the desperation and love they're feeling during that night together just leaps off the page.
Fault Lines, Weakest Link prompt
John and Rodney get turned into Runners with a telepathic link. And the Zelenka/Lorne asides made me grin so much.
Unpredictable, Zero Tolerance prompt
The one where they keep getting thrown in jail. It's set season one, so there's Ford and that undercurrent of being totally cut off from Earth. It's a wonderful, awkward back-and-forward dance between John and Rodney, and you just root for them so badly.
So, that's a week of McShep fics for the Home Team. People should read and vote because there's some great stuff posted, and there's still more to come.
