So, my Friday the 13th contained epic amounts of fail. Which has never actually happened to me on Friday 13th before.

Firstly, my phone's touchscreen stopped working. Not registering any touch, gone, kaput. Even removing the battery and replacing it didn't help. ( I tried four times to no avail.) I've actually been looking into replacing the phone, but wasn't going to do anything until I got back from London, so this kinda moved the timeline up.

I bailed from work a bit early to get the bus into Newcastle, and managed to miss it by about 30 seconds.

Once I got into town, I went to the phone shop. Explain what had happened and decided to go for the Acer Liquid, only to find out they didn't have any in stock. Luckily, their other shop in Newcastle did have some in stock, so off Claire trots to that one instead.

Now fully equipped with a shiny new phone, I headed home and to Morrisons to pick up food for the Avengersathon that happened on Saturday and to print out some photos to take with me to London next week. Only, half way through the printing, the machine runs out of paper and nobody in the store knew how to fill it up. They reimbursed my money for them, so I got what had printed out already for free, but still. Tres annoying.

Still, though, I got a a shiny new phone out of it.

I'm going to be away overnight tomorrow due to work and this was the process I've just gone through while packing my bag:

Notebook? Check.
Actual book? Check.
Other notebook which has half-written story in it that I might finish? Check.
Is it worth taking another book with me? Okay, I'll only be gone one night, but still, you never know what could happen? Check
Third notebook with yet another half-written story in it that I might finish? Check.

::sits down to check e-mail and surf online::

::Two hours later::

Me: I'm pretty sure I've forgotten something.

::continues to surf online and check LJ and ooh, new fic--::

Me: Bugger! Clothes!

Fear me, people, for I managed to pack five books into my bag for one overnight stay and forget the actual clothes I'll need to wear.

My computer has started making noises which do not sound good. This is not a good thing. Granted, he's about seven years old and has, therefore, has a good innings, but still. Do not want to have to shell out for a new computer ::grumps::

Also, I'm buggered if I can remember the passwords to any of my e-mail / websites.

Double arse.

I kinda promised people an update and then didn't deliver on it. Because I suck. And not in the good way. Well, not unless you buy me dinner first...

So, here is the update of what has been going on in Claire's life since last we spoke...

In which Claire rambles about the house... )

In which Claire finds Wincest in Borders... )

In which Claire narrowly avoids stepping in cat vomit... )

In which Claire really should have worn socks... )

In which Claire apparently has swine flu... )

Er, yeah, I think that's about it. Questions? ::grin::

I ordered some stuff from the States and I got a card from the Royal mail this morning saying I had to pay an £11.92 Customs charge on it. £8 of which is the Customs clearance fee. The buggers! Y'see, if they'd just let it go without without stopping it, then they wouldn't have had to spend £8's worth of time on it, would they? Maybe I should use that as an argument...

Also, my epic failure with Ribena knows no bounds... Turns out it isn't much weaker since the last time I'd had it, I'd just didn't see the 'Ready to Drink' label on it until after I'd already diluted it ::sigh::

On the upside, though, it's Doctor Who in 85 minutes!

I've just had an e-mail from Wolf, which I assume they're sending out to everyone whose e-mail addies they have. In it they say, "Wolf Events have received 2 emails from customers who believe their credit cards have be recently charged with unauthorised amounts from companies they have not purchased from."

However, there was a post on their boards which, I'm pretty sure involved more than two people saying they'd had dodgy charges as well. So, it looks like Wolf are only paying attention to the e-mails and not to the other people on their site who put their hands up and said, "Actually, me too."

I've sent an e-mail to them saying I got hit with it, as well and that there are others, not just the two they've had mails from.

I realise that people saying, you know, there's a group of us who have all had bad charges put on our credit / debit cards and you're the only link between us has to be crappy, but I've gotta say, I'm not best impressed with Wolf's reaction to this.

Well, I've just had to cut up my credit card.

[livejournal.com profile] beaniesheppard posted to [livejournal.com profile] sga_noticeboard noting that some people who bought tickets to Wolf's Meet The Hewlett's even next month have reported fraudulent activity on their cards.

Bugger, thinks I and off I pop to check online.

And, sure enough, over a hundred quid's worth of charges that aren't mine. Well, not unless I recently decided to install a phone line through an American provider, among other things.

I phone my credit card company, who were more than helpful. They cancelled the card and have flagged and removed the fraudulent charges from the account. So, luckily for me, this issue was pretty much fixed within 30 minutes of noticing it. I won't have a credit card for the next week or so, but since I only use it online that's really not a problem. And hey, at least it wasn't the debit card...

Anyone who bought tickets should check their statements to make sure they haven't been hit, as well.

For those who are interested, [livejournal.com profile] beaniesheppard's post on what's happened is here.

However, to look on the bright side, it's like I've just said to [livejournal.com profile] mandragora1: it's a bugger, but it could have been a lot worse.

So, thinks me. I have tickets to a con, flights booked and a possible hotel *glances at [livejournal.com profile] temaris*

All I need now is to renew my passport. Can't be that difficult.

Never were less truer words spoken... )
