Dear SPN fandom (although not all of you),

The song's actually called 'Angel'. That's it. Just 'Angel'. No 'In the Arms of the' in the title at all. Honestly. I'm not lying to you here. You can check the back of Surfacing if you don't believe me.

Also, it's spelled McLachlan. Since I've seen people use this for titles and claim "omg! I love this song / singer so much--", it would be nice if you actually a) got the name of the song right and b) spelled SL's name correctly.

No love,

Me.

So, I started off writing a rambling post about John Winchester and why so many authors seem to turn him into omg, worst parent ever. And then I deleted it, because it really was rather rambling and kind of made no sense.

I do, however, stick by the following sentiment:

I actually want to take every author who writes John like this and shake them while reminding them that John died for Dean. He walked into that deal, knowing full well he would be going to Hell and not expecting to get back out again, because he was unprepared to let Dean die.

I had enough of the show retconning John to be a terrible father/husband/person, I don't need the fandom to be doing it, as well.

And then I realise that I need to back away from the computer because we're actually talking about a fictional character, and I shouldn't be getting so riled up while muttering "Don't be dissing on John--" under my breath.

Maybe I'll just channel all the snark I'm feeling into writing John/Dean instead...

I'm a little in love with the fact that [livejournal.com profile] spnstoryfinders put a mod post up that contained the following sentence:

Also, the 'weather' tag is used for inquiries regarding weather in a fic, not the weather you yourself are experiencing at the time of your post.

Because now I'm imagining someone posting the following:

I'm looking for a story where Dean is a big meany poopy-head and makes Sam cry and Gabriel has to hug him and comfort him and call him George and then Sam gets all confused because he's called Sam, not George, and after Sam has cried himself to sleep in Gabriel's arms, Gabriel calls Castiel who is very angry with Dean for being a big meany poopy-head and he goes and tells Dean how disappointed he is and then makes Dean take down his jeans and spanks him on the bottom until Dean is crying and then Dean goes and hugs Sam and says he's sorry for being a big meany poopy-head and Sam forgives him and they all live happily ever after. Except for Bobby, because I don't like him. Also, it was raining earlier, but now we have snow...

Is it just me who thinks the Cosmic Love by Florence & the Machine could have been written for Lucifer?

The video's here, for those who've never heard the song:

Or, if you'd prefer it embedded... video under cut... )

If you haven't yet seen the vid of Misha Collins and Traci Dinwiddie improvising a scene where Castiel gets Pamela out of Heaven, then you really should, as it's kind of brilliant:

So, as humorous as the article about Castiel being a trending baby name is (also, the site is for people researching names, which actually implies it's not people looking to name kids, but more likely fans wanting to check the meaning/history of the name for whatever reason), the actual Castiel page on Namepedia is way funnier.

Looks like some of the SPN fen have been playing around... )

Oh, fandom, never change ::grin::
