Clay scrubbed a hand over his face as he looked at the scene in front of him.
It'll be fine, Pooch had said when they'd broken down outside Perfection Valley.
I just need a few parts, Pooch had said as he'd looked under the hood of the van.
I'll have it fixed in no time, Pooch had said, as they'd walked towards the small cluster of houses that had laughingly called itself a town.
Dude! We've got to do the graboid tour while we're here! That one, of course, had been Jensen.
The thing is, Clay was more than willing to indulge Jensen. Generally, that had more to do with Clay not wanting to put up with Cougar when he wasn't getting laid, but still--
So they'd all piled in the truck and headed into the desert with the admittedly attractive guide. (He may have been screwing Aisha, but it didn't mean he was blind.) It was pretty much dirt as far as Clay could see, with the occasional patch of green, just to mix it up a bit, and Clay found himself not really paying attention, which meant the tour pretty much went like this: Blah blah blah graboids blah blah blah dirt blah blah blah eat people--
It wasn't until He'd heard a sharp intake of breath from Jensen that Clay had even looked up, his eyes meeting the pulsing mass of flesh in front of them, what he assumed to be tongue carefully waving in the air.
"Oh, he's beautiful--" And, jesus, the last time the kid had talked like that about anything was when Cougar had walked out of the lake in Panama buck-ass naked and dripping wet.
And Clay wasn't the only one who heard it, not if the looks Cougar and Tyler "not Desert Jack, actually, but I'm still the one you want" Reed were giving him meant anything.
Which sort of explained the scene in front of him. And it wasn't the first time Clay had walked in on two of his people in an orgy, so it wasn't like it bothered him. (Also, after that night in Boliva with him, Roque and the two twins, he'd be kind of a hypocrite if it did.) But still, it was the first time he'd walked in one two of his people in an orgy that also involved a giant man-eating invertebrate. Although, considering the way both Jensen, Cougar and Reed were all writhing in what appeared to be utter wanton need as those tongues vanished into places Clay didn't want to think about, he didn't think the people involved minded so much.
"Oh god!" Jensen arched as he screamed, reaching out and grabbing hold of Cougar's hand. "Jesus, fuck Blanco, harder--"
Yeah, Clay though, stepping back out of the hut and carefully closing the door behind him, he didn't think they minded at all.
