So, I'm walking home from work after getting off the Metro and I start to think about weres. About how it's always werewolves that get the attention. Okay, so the LKH Anita Blake books have wereleopards, and I'm sure I've seen mention about weretigers at some point somewhere. But mainly, it's the wolves. And part of me understands that. I mean, you think of werewolves and you think predator, hunter, much grrr-ness. But what about the forgotten ones? Say, the weresheep? And then that got me thinking, *are* there weresheep? Are there innocent American tourists out there who found themselves lost on the Yorkshire moors one night and were attacked by a vicious woolly mammal? Do they now live a normal life, except for three nights of the month where they have the unerring urge to go out and eat grass? And possibly have a shearing and dip fetish.

And then there's the most important question of all:

Would Oz be as cool if he was a weresheep?

Well, Oz was cool before he was a werewolf. Of course the lyncanthropy added to the coolness. But I think if he were a weresheep instead, it would subtract from the coolness. Maybe not subtract, but certain change it. Because what is the worst he could do to you? Graze you to death?

And just to add to your pondering, there are such things as wolfweres. Wolves that take the form of humans.

Have you read Peter David's 'Howling Mad'? It's a book with exactly that premise.

Graze you to death?

Hmmm... being nibbled on by Oz all night. I can imagine there are worse ways to go ;-)

The AB books have variety of weres, even if the wolves do indeed get the most starring time. Did you know there are also were-swans? Those have a hard time, because they are in fact prey.

As for your question.

Oz will ALWAYS be cool.

You had to ask?

You're right. He's always going to be cool. Even if part of me still wants to see him as a weresheep.
