The inenvitable has happened. I saw it on the way home from work today: The first house with its Christmas lights up. Light-up Santa on top of the door, glowing reindeers on the walls, lights all over the house.

Why won't someone tell these people that gaudy Christmas lights at the beginning of November make the baby Jesus cry?

(Mind you, I'm pretty sure that guady Christmas lights at *any* time probably make the baby Jesus cry.)

This is why this country needs a Thanksgiving, because, see, then, if you have a holiday at the end of November, then people get yelled at for setting things up before it.

I feel your pain.

I *love* Sinterklaas (Dec. 5), I love the candy that comes with it... I don't want to see that candy in stores at the start of October, if not sooner.

This year I even heard a little girl exclaim in complete befuddlement at seeing the candy so early. This is just not right.

It's not right and it's just downright annoying. Mind you, that's not as bad as the house I pass on the other bus route which has the light up santa and reindeer pastered over the outside of the house from last year. They must have figured it was too much hassle to take it down.
