So, there's one thing I wonder about when I watch Atlantis. Everyone wears a patch on their left arm to identify their nationality. The thing is, Carson wears the cross of St Andrew, whereas Grodin and the rest of the Brits wear the Union Jack. Why? I mean, if Carson is wearing the St Andrew flag, then shoudn't Peter be wearing the St George's Cross?

I had this conversation with [livejournal.com profile] temaris a little while back, and I can't remember us coming to any definitive answer, and I'm still curious.

I can, too. She'd be all, "You're not wearing a bloody Union Jack!" and pulling out her sewing kit *g*

"You're not going off to another galaxy wearing the Union Jack! I'll be dead in the ground, first! Bad enough you go trapising about the universe, I'll not have everyone think you're English!"

And Carson would be all, "But, mum, the Union Jack is the UK flag, it's what I should be wearing."

She'd just wave the patch and go "If this flag was good enough for Saint Andrew, it's bloody well good enough for you!" and carry on sewing.

And I bet when he showed up at the SGC, Rodney said "Shouldn't you be wearing the UK flag? Aren't you gonna get in trouble?" Carson would say, "Oh, don't even start! It's the US military or my mum - I'd rather the US military were mad at me!"

Um. Not that someone should go ahead and write this.

Was going to say that in the five seconds of F1 motor racing I managed to tolerate the other week I noticed that they did the same thing, but since I haven't stopped giggling, I think I'll go with the Mrs Beckett theory.
