Apocalypse Nowish? Yasureyoubetcha!

moonlettuceWell, the bizarre has happened before (in the kind of way that frogs have fallen from the sky at some point) and it's happened again. I'm actually supporting a het relationship that involves one of my guys. I'm watching Angel and I'm finding myself actively rooting for Wes/Lilah. I haven't gone as far as to read the fic, but I'm watching the show and loving these two together. And that isn't the reaction I usually have to tptb screwing with one of my slash pairings and putting one of the guys with a woman. (I won't go into details, but if you imagine me falling off the couch and clutching at my eyes screaming "Argh, the horrors! It burns! It burns!" then you kinda get the picture.)
The thing is, I've always believed Wes belongs with Angel... or possibly Lindsey.. or even Spike. (Gunn would have been in there at some point, until he became, well, an idiot.) But, instead of trying to think of plots to get Wes out of Lilah's bed and into Angel's, I'm finding I rather like the fact that Wes is in Lilah's bed in the first place. Of course, I'd prefer him with Angel... or Lindsey... or Spike {g}, but if he has to be with a woman then let him stay with Lilah and not go off with *shudder*Fred*shudder. I cringe at the thought of Wes/Fred (gods, it's traumatises me even to write it) because I can't stand Fred as a character. But Lilah? She's snarky, morally ambiguous, and willing to do what it takes as long as she survives. And (especially as a girl who fell in lust with Alex Krycek, Lex Luthor and Kronos) they're the characteristics that appeal to me.
I like Wesley. I like Lilah. I like them together.
So, of course, it goes without saying that something terrible is going to happen *sigh*
The other offshoot of this is that I'm pretty sure me supporting a het relationship is one of the signs of a coming apocalypse. So, all we need now is four horsemen flying across the sky and we're set {g}
