I just met Ian McKellen!!
I went to see King Lear on Saturday and stayed for the post-show talk, which meant I couldn't dive around to the stage door and ask Sir Ian for his autograph. (I had hoped that he would be one of the actors doing the talk, but alas, it was not to be.)
So, I went up today to hang around and ask for his autograph after the performance. Only there wasn't a performance today. They were doing the tech and lighting set-up for The Seagull, which meant no audience, just the actors.
So, I (and a lass I work with who is a LotR fan) waited in the pub opposite the stage door and then dived in when we saw the actors coming out.
Oh. My. God.
Ian McKellen is so wonderful. He signed both my programme (personalised) and my photo of Magneto and shook my hand and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
So, we came out and bounced and then had this 30 minute conversation about Doctor Who with these two people we met in the street.
Unable. To. Stop. Grinning.
