Okay, Martin Gero, you got me to do something I never thought I'd do. You got me crying over the death of Carson Beckett.
The end killed me. When the six of them pick up the casket to take it through the wormhole. That was me gone. The look John throws Rodney before they start to walk to casket, I pretty much started there until the end of the episode.
So, yeah, Martin Gero's writing? Creates miracles.
(And on a totally shallow note: Sheppard and Lorne in dress blues? Baby, I am there.)
ETA: Oh yeah, and John's been married before? Dude! When the fuck did that happen?

I really enjoyed it all (except for the final scene which felt superfluous). The bit before that broke my heart though and even seeing John and Lorne all dressed up didn't help much (the drool with the tears was just messy).
I actually like how they killed him off. Not all deaths are heroic with the hero going down in a blaze of glory saving the world blah blah blah. There was a wee touch of that, yes, but it was really just the result of an accident and bad timing and a whole host of other things when all was said and done and that was refreshingly 'normal'.

Date: 2007-01-19 03:09 am (UTC)I'm not a crier but I teared up during the latter half of Weir's speech. And then when they went through the gate with the casket, I almost cried again. That got me too.
I think it was MG who mentioned that people tend to die in some of his episodes. Chalk up another one!
