I've thought about this challenge in the past, but I was under the impression that you were only allowed to sign up if you'd signed up and delivered in the past, or you filled one of the unfilled prompts during the year. Has this changed?

I'm easily confused and while I could have sworn that those were the rules when I looked at it last year, or the year before, I can't find anything on it this year.

Not so. this year you may participate if you have never done so -- it's only those who have defaulted that have to produce a story. http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/faq.shtml#3

That was what was confusing me. I read that in the FAQ and yet I know that last time I looked to sign up, in either 2006 or 2007, it was a requirement that you'd participated before or had filled an unfilled New Year's Request. I wasn't sure if they'd changed the rules or whether there was something else somewhere that still said this. I've asked for clarification on one of the admin posts anyway.

I was thinking of signing up if they now permitted it, but I've noticed that Dark Angel isn't listed this year whereas it has been in the past. So it's either not been requested this year, or it's now considered too popular.

Which only bothers me in that it would reduce me to only three or four fandoms I could actually write in!

Well, you know I love it. :) The big scary part is not knowing what fandom you'll get and what kind of request in that fandom, but you only have to offer three fandoms, and you can pick what characters you're willing to write.

(Primeval and Merlin are both on the list, btw. *g*)

Sign-ups are a lot more difficult than they look. I thought it was only three fandoms you could choose, but now I've got a fourth to choose! lol!
