So, I'm thinking about buying an epilator. Thing is, I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain, so I don't want to pay £70 for something I'll use once and then never pick up again.

Which means the question is: does anyone have one and would you recommend it?

I have one and am very satisfied with it. It does hurt when one removes the "full fur" with it the first time, but I find it absolutely manageable, and when it then regrows it won't all do at the same time anyway, so there's not that much to rip out the next time and it's not particularly painful anymore. The only thing about which I was disappointed was that at least my fur grows back much faster than they say and I have to epilate after two weeks again already, but that might be just me. ;-)

I have one and I absolutely love it. Personally, I don't think it even hurts, but I've been informed by other friends with the same epilator that I am a freak of nature that way.

i have had one for years and every couple of years i try it again to see if i can hack the pain but never managed it.

however, i've been having my legs waxed for the last year and a half and, having tried the epilator again find that i can manage to get both legs finished this time. hurrah!

I found it slightly nippy at first but now I barely feel it. I do know a couple of friends who found it too painful so it must vary hugely.

I would never want to go back to shaving as I find it preferable for so many reasons.

YES. I love my epilator more than I love my sex toys, srsly. I really don't know how I ever survived without it. The pain thing isn't an issue for me, and epilation is so much better than waxing because it doesn't fuck up your skin and it gets way more hairs out (I won't even start in on how much better than shaving it is.) Plus you can use it pretty much anywhere. I use mine on my legs, underarms, upper lip and bikini line (though I wouldn't reccomend that for anyone with a low pain tolerance.) Also the pain lessens every time you use it, so after a while you don't even notice it anymore.

In short: YES I RECCOMEND IT.

I have a Braun face and body one - it's brilliant. The first time you use it on your legs you will need the ice pack that comes with it, but after that it's much more bearable. I did try using it on my underarms once though and that was a bad plan - it drew blood. Everywhere else though it's great; legs, face, body.
