Pictures Wot We Saw...
Aug. 20th, 2010 12:35 amI went to the cinema yesterday Wednesday with
alyse and Alyse's small person. We couldn't chose between seeing Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore of The A-Team. In the end, we decided this didn't, actually, have to be an or decision and saw both of them.
I've been sort of worried about seeing The A-Team as I was such a fan of the original series* and I didn't want them to completely shag it up. However, I really enjoyed it. I'll even forgive them for having Murdock court-martialed with the rest of them, when he actually wasn't in the series.
Liam Neeson didn't bug the fuck out of me as Hannibal, which was something George Peppard had always managed to do. (That man was just too damn smug...) They had 'Lynch' as the bad guy, although I kept expecting a Decker to pop up somewhere.
I adored the tank flying scene and I love that they gave the explanation of BA's (and how much did it throw me that they called him Bosco instead of BA in this**) fear of flying.
And, yes, I'm a big enough geek to admit that my two favourite bits in the movie were the title scene of the movie they'd made to break Murdock out of the hospital. As soon as I saw the name Reginald Barclay pop up I squeaked. The end of the name was cut off, but I'm more than sure the G F Star-- was Starbuck, which means I'm guessing the one where we only saw the first name of Tom had a surname of Banacek. But the bits I squeed at most were the two bits after the credits with Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz.
So, yes, all in all, a fun movie that I could definitely watch again. Also, if it leads to more Face/Murdock*** fic, I won't be complaining ::grin:: (If, however, it leads to more Hannibal/Face, I shall grumble under my breath like a mad thing, for that is not how I roll.)
Also, we had sushi, so it was all good.
* As in, the first TV show I ever cried at was this one. Seriously. It was the episode where Face gets the fake pardon in order to try and trap the team and I burst into the tears at the entire bit where he's preparing to leave them.
** Yes, I realise that's his actual name, it still threw me, though...
*** For those people who spell it Murdoch, just stop it. Accept that it's spelled with a K and just move on...

Date: 2010-08-20 12:19 am (UTC)I am hesitant to see the movie for the same reason, being a fan of the original series...and of Dirk, in general. He's the REAL Starbuck, you know! lol

Date: 2010-08-20 09:47 am (UTC)Will try and watch it again (I really liked Hannibal-Neeson)...funny thing is, I watched it way back then, yes, but I never was a Fan, so my strong reaction really surprised me. I suspect an unconfessed liking for OriginalMurdock :)
But! I booked for Connotations! I did! YAY! Maybe this year I'll make it *fingers crossed*
