SFX, or 'what Claire did last weekend'

I've just read temaris's SFX con report, and that reminded me that I guess I should write one. So, it went kinda like this:

• Got to Newcastle airport and checked in, only to have my flight cancelled about 10 minutes later. After diving on the EasyJet sales desk, I managed to get transferred to a (much) later flight. I debated going into work and doing some of the stuff that needed doing, and eventually settled on going home and watching bad daytime TV, until I had to get back off my arse and trundled back to the airport. But I finally got to London, with tem
picking me up from Stansted.


• Seeing stageira in a most unexpected place. Hah! Fandom is everywhere!!1!one!



• They gave us fire! Silly, silly people. It started out at three candles per table. I think we eventually ended up with seven.



• Billy Boyd is teh kewt. And his smile appears on photos as if by magic. I'm still pretty sure thwax photomannipped each and every one of them and pasted a smile on. Although not his head. (My hed is pastede on, yay!)



• The dealers room was small. Very small. Like 4 dealers, MVC and SFX small. Although the guy from MVC gave me a Star Trek Nemesis clock because I'd spoken to him about Smallville the day before and agreed muchly with his bemoaning the very little SV merchandise fact.



• Dinner on Saturday night was great. Six of us headed out and ended up at this lovely Italian place called Zonzo. Very nice indeed.



• Much of the weekend was spent in the photo / autograph room, laughing and talking and playing the movie game



• The look on Dean Haglund's when I did the 'naked Sooty' joke. As in a joke about Sooty being naked, not a joke about Sooty with me being naked. Because that would be bad. Very bad. Trust me on this one.



• Cheering for Firefly every time it was mentioned at the Awards Ceremony. Yay Mal! Yay Simon! Yay Jayne! Yay Mal and Jayne tag-teaming Simon and fucking him over a table!



• New friends! Hee!



• And a (surprisingly) fun time was had by all...
