So, I uploaded the Supernatural stuff to AO3. And, yeah, I threw it all up there over the course of a couple of days instead of drawing it out over weeks, which, admittedly, probably pissed people off for flooding but, hey, it's done now. And then I got this (a direct c&p):
Wow. You have alot of posts up. Of pretty pedestrian smut. You must think a lot of yourself, to, put up this much material. I mean, I am not saying its bad, simply that it might be better to post fewer pieces at a time. I for one am always tempted to be put off by folks who post more than three stories at once--only because its rare that someone who posts in volume is producing worhty work. It just makes it look like one has nothing better to do. For some of us, writing is an expression of something numinous--which it can't be, if you write in volume. Just sayin', and just my opinion.
Well, personally, I think I'm fucking awesome but your mileage may vary ::grin::
What amuses me the most is that this was post on a story that was added into the 2009 MMoM collection. Which would mean it was written three years ago. I have the impression this person thinks I wrote everything I just uploaded in, like, a couple of weeks which, lol, no.

Date: 2012-03-27 06:48 pm (UTC)"Well, thank you for commenting on my stories, but it seems to me that if you had bothered to look at the dates, you might have noticed I was adding all my old stories to a new archive. I wrote these over a period of X years and some of it is rather old, when my writing ability was not quite as polished.
But I am really grateful you took the time to try to guilt me into becoming a better writer, because wow, that sort of pandering attitude is really encouraging. Except I'm not sure you can recognise sarcasm, so perhaps I should just say you probably need to mind your own business and not bother me with your opinions in the future."
:-D

Date: 2012-03-27 07:09 pm (UTC)I may have made some comment about the stories having been written over the past four years and maybe they shouldn't try to assume something about someone they know nothing about or it might look like they had nothing better to do.

Date: 2012-03-27 08:30 pm (UTC)When I finally get around to upping my stuff to A03 I've always intend to do it as a job lot, not by dribs and drabs. Makes sense really!

Date: 2012-03-27 07:13 pm (UTC)Your work is just nummy, not numinous.
Sigh.
I mean, sure, the new feed might be clogged for a day, but people can deal. There's never an excuse to squelch someone's writing (nor is there an obligation to read something you don't think will be up to your classy standards).
Plus the whole point of MMoM is to make it quick fast and deliciously dirty.
Argh!
Plus I'm in a new fandom where I'm just not willing to read the most popular works because they are all long, plotty sprawling WIPs, and I would rather read 500-6000 word one shots that have single things to say, please.

Date: 2012-03-27 10:49 pm (UTC)I was tempted to point out that a lot of it was written for MMoM and Blindfold so, yeah, smut kinda implied there ::grin::

Date: 2012-03-29 04:45 am (UTC)Speaking of things that are your fault, I totally blame you for reminding me of the awesomeness of one Phil Coulson and one Clint Barton, which led me to getting caught up on the most recent Avenger movie I hadn't seen yet, and then reading a ridiculous amount of Clint/Coulson and Steve/Tony the last couple of weeks. I'm just sayin'. *vbg*

Date: 2012-03-28 12:05 am (UTC)At first I thought it was kind of cute that Anon was trying, in their condescending way, to help you be a better writer, but then the "awww, someone thinks you're new!" turned into another reminder that I'm not even 30 and I'm already a fandom old lady, so I'll be over here looking for walkers with flames on the legs.
