So, I uploaded the Supernatural stuff to AO3. And, yeah, I threw it all up there over the course of a couple of days instead of drawing it out over weeks, which, admittedly, probably pissed people off for flooding but, hey, it's done now. And then I got this (a direct c&p):

Wow. You have alot of posts up. Of pretty pedestrian smut. You must think a lot of yourself, to, put up this much material. I mean, I am not saying its bad, simply that it might be better to post fewer pieces at a time. I for one am always tempted to be put off by folks who post more than three stories at once--only because its rare that someone who posts in volume is producing worhty work. It just makes it look like one has nothing better to do. For some of us, writing is an expression of something numinous--which it can't be, if you write in volume. Just sayin', and just my opinion.

Well, personally, I think I'm fucking awesome but your mileage may vary ::grin::

What amuses me the most is that this was post on a story that was added into the 2009 MMoM collection. Which would mean it was written three years ago. I have the impression this person thinks I wrote everything I just uploaded in, like, a couple of weeks which, lol, no.

Oh I would SO BE SNARKY ON THEIR ASS. :-D

"Well, thank you for commenting on my stories, but it seems to me that if you had bothered to look at the dates, you might have noticed I was adding all my old stories to a new archive. I wrote these over a period of X years and some of it is rather old, when my writing ability was not quite as polished.

But I am really grateful you took the time to try to guilt me into becoming a better writer, because wow, that sort of pandering attitude is really encouraging. Except I'm not sure you can recognise sarcasm, so perhaps I should just say you probably need to mind your own business and not bother me with your opinions in the future."

:-D

Also respondent is claiming its writing is numinous? Wow - can we say inflated ego, much?! *G*

When I finally get around to upping my stuff to A03 I've always intend to do it as a job lot, not by dribs and drabs. Makes sense really!

Your work will never be worhty enough! It's just smut!

Your work is just nummy, not numinous.

Sigh.

I mean, sure, the new feed might be clogged for a day, but people can deal. There's never an excuse to squelch someone's writing (nor is there an obligation to read something you don't think will be up to your classy standards).

Plus the whole point of MMoM is to make it quick fast and deliciously dirty.

Argh!

Plus I'm in a new fandom where I'm just not willing to read the most popular works because they are all long, plotty sprawling WIPs, and I would rather read 500-6000 word one shots that have single things to say, please.

Wow, snobbish much?

Also, I'd bet good money they have no idea what 'numinous' means except it turned up on their word-a-day calendar that one time... ;)

Maybe they should spend more time polishing their halo in order to illuminate those grammar books and less time sending defective drivel to random strangers...just sayin' :-D

*snort* Wow, way to be a condescending asshat with absolutely no leg to stand on, given the inability to actually, y'know, write a coherent, grammatically correct sentence that's correctly punctuated. And of course her writing experience is spiritual and yours obviously isn't, you keyboard-banging word monkey you. *rolls eyes*

And yes, you're fucking awesome. *vbg*

Heeee. Of course, how silly of me! *vbg*

Speaking of things that are your fault, I totally blame you for reminding me of the awesomeness of one Phil Coulson and one Clint Barton, which led me to getting caught up on the most recent Avenger movie I hadn't seen yet, and then reading a ridiculous amount of Clint/Coulson and Steve/Tony the last couple of weeks. I'm just sayin'. *vbg*

I have! He's so wonderfully, adorably, unassumingly awesome and such a BAMF in that. The Consultant made me laugh, too--Coulson and Sitwell doing an end run around the bureaucrats. *vbg*

Heee. I welcome all recs! *vbg*

Actually, when you upload fic to AO3 you can backdate it to the original posting date (or whenever else you want) so you don't have to worry about flooding any particular fandom page if you're uploading everything at once. I think it does it automatically if you're importing and the info's available, but if you're posting directly it's in the middle of the Associations block near the bottom of the page.

At first I thought it was kind of cute that Anon was trying, in their condescending way, to help you be a better writer, but then the "awww, someone thinks you're new!" turned into another reminder that I'm not even 30 and I'm already a fandom old lady, so I'll be over here looking for walkers with flames on the legs.
