moonlettuceI'm flicking around in one of the PotC archives and there's this fic. Read through the intro, yadda, yadda, yadda. Stop dead. Quickly dump fic on its arse without ever reading a word of the story. Why? Because the author's notes contain this little gem:
"Also I haven't seen the movie (obviously) [other crap]"
Please, for the love of the gods, how the hell do you expect to write the fic with any degree of characterisation if you Haven't. Seen. The. Bloody. Movie?
What's that? You don't expect your characterisation to be anywhere near canonical? Because you haven't seen the movie. And you don't care? Because you're a moron. Who still hasn't seen the movie. But you expect people to read your fic? The fic with shitty characterisation. Because, nope, you still haven't seen the movie.
