1) how do you know? 2) how allergic, do they just give you the sniffles or is it you drop dead at the sight of a chilean rose tarantula*?
* i promise not to use this information to kill you/give you a runny nose (delete as appropriate), that would be both mean and make it more difficult to share rooms with you at cons.
1) A couple of years ago, the Hancock Museum had a 'Creepy Crawlies' exhibition. The were letting some of the adults hold the tarantula. I was fine while she was sitting on my hand, but about 10 minutes after I put her down my hand got very red and itchy and slightly swollen. Discovered some people are allergic to the hair tarantulas shed, and, apparently, I'm one of them.
2) No sniffles or deadness, just red and swollen itchiness where they've been sitting.
My surname is 7 letters long but only has 1 vowel, rendering it completely unpronounceable, even by myself.
(When non-internet people ask me things like this, I always freak them out astound them by my immense knowledge of the Buffyverse. Doesn't work here though.....)
