Claire's Day Out
Jan. 8th, 2006 01:10 amI went to see Brokeback Mountain with
alyse today *checks time* yesterday. This movie? Beautiful in its acting, its direction, its scenery. And the end? Killed me dead.
I absolutely agree with
ruric when she said that this really has to be seen in a cinema, because watching it on a TV just won't have the same impact.
Or, like I said to someone I work with: The deep part of me understands that this a movie about love transcending boundaries and the impact it can have when people feel their only option is to bow to the societal norm because anything else is classed with revulsion, derision and violence. The shallow part of me says, "Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal snogging? You're bloody right I'm there!"

Date: 2006-01-09 12:38 pm (UTC)LOL! My first reaction exactly. But I've been reading some *amazing* things about this movie. I fully expected it to be slammed by critics from one end of town to the other, but pretty much every single review has been above and *beyond* glowing!! *feels very warm and fuzzy*
I am *definately* seeing it at the cinema too. It's normally the kind of movie I watch at home (too much squeeing in public can be embarassing!), but you've convinced me! :)
