I have the overwhelming urge to write a Angel fic in the style of Dragnet. I can just see the opening:
It was a sunny Monday morning in Los Angeles. I wasn't out in it. The vision came through at 9:25, just as Cordelia walked through the door. Some sort of demons with tentacles under the Hollywood sign. That sign mirrors LA too neatly. It's all clean and stark from a distance, but once you get up close you realise just how dirty it really is. Runaways, lost souls and a million other people looking for an escape all using that sign as their homing beacon. And now one of those souls was in danger, and it's up to my team to stop the bad thing from happening. My name's Angel. I'm a vampire.
Or maybe an Angel/Dragnet crossover. Hmmm...

(Hey. Dragnet is even on tonight. But I'm already gonna watch Daredevil.)
Thank god it's Friday! (Oh wait...)
