And, okay, I have avoided spoilers about the upcoming season and now I regret it. Do you know where I can find out when and how many episodes there will be? And most especially reassurances that there should be another Christmas episode this year...

You mean the 2009 series? There's a Christmas special this year and then there's going to be four specials during 2009 and then it's back to a 13 episode run for 2010 :)
