Oh, I saw that. I figure a) she knew she was being silly when she flounced, and b) she deleted before I got a chance to figure out where her website was and open a tab for the fic at work (because I do my best not to read WIPs until they are finished(and thank you for posting so much delightfully short stuff!)) so she's at least out my readership.
::grin:: No, you're right. This isn't about SGA, and is about the utter entitlement seeping through. Which is pretty much what my reaction was, including much eyerolling.
Really, we should just be grading her on flouncing style and technique.
I give her a 10 on Style -- the butthurt entitlement was particularly special, but an 8 on Technique -- more decisiveness was needed: lingering for four pages of comments shows a certain amount of confused thinking. A really neat flounce is sharp, decisive, and doesn't get caught up on the door frame halfway through.
lol! I was also impressed by her apparent friending of people just so they could watch her flounce. I believe that extra piece of effort deserves another .5 on the Technique ;D
I was pretty friendly with Shelby, long before she got to be so well known-she started out in SPN. She's been indicating increasing upset with fandom in general, for various reasons; but...her final rant really caught me by surprise. I'm both disappointed and personally hurt. I *tried* to be her friend, not just a reader-I always commented on the fics I read in the fandoms I like, gave her plot bunnies ('Lost Highway" was mine, for example) and concrit, yeah...but also joked with her, did memes with her, and took a genuine interest in her personal life. I talked some of my friends into designing some icons for her birthday gift, once...I asked for her address last Christmas, to send her a card, and she didn't even answer me, so...I suspect I'm on her shit list, for some reason.
I *was* going to email her and say goodbye, but I'm not going to bother now. I'd pay (or kill, maybe) to have half the social interaction she had, myself.
You know what's funny? I knew she was planning on quitting fandom sooner or later, so I copied the fics she wrote that I liked best. :D
I can't be too mad at smiley, though...I met mgbutterfly through her, and she's a nice person. She's already been kinder to me than many people I know in RL. Silver lining, meet cloud. :)
Y'see, I look at that and just see the omg!entitlement! part of the post because I didn't know her outside of seeing the username around, but I can absolutely understand where you're coming from. There was a tone of 'I want more because what I'm getting isn't enough!' and that's gotta suck for the people who were/are her friends.
