Angel was already moving as Cordelia clutched at her head and fell towards the ground in pain. Just managing to reach her in time, he wrapped his arms around her, stopping her from hitting the cool marble floor of the Hyperion lobby.
"What did you see?" Wesley asked softly, holding out the water and pills he'd retrieved from Cordy's desk.
"Fire. Apocalypse. The world's going to end!"
Gunn stared at the young woman, worry etching his features. "You sure?"
She winced as she nodded. "There's only one chance. Angel. Wesley."
"Yes?" The two men moved closer to her.
"You have to have sex."
"What?!" Wesley exclaimed. "Surely you must be mistaken!"
A hand jerked out and grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer. "It's the only way," Cordelia gasped out. "You have to have sex. Right now. Or the world will end!"
Wesley looked at Angel, wide-eyed.
Angel looked back. "If it's the only way, we'll have to do it," he intoned seriously.
"You can't mean, I mean, we can't-" The words stammered off into nothing as Angel helped Cordelia to her feet before holding out a hand to Wesley.
"Wes, it's for the safety of the world."
Resignation crossed the ex-Watcher's face as he grasped Angel's hand. "Yes, of course, Angel. We must do what we must do."
A grin broke out over Cordelia's face as she watched the two men walk up the stairs towards Angel's bedroom. Holding her hand out, she glanced at Gunn. "Told you I could get them to do it," she said, triumph colouring her tone.
"Next time, I'm makin' it a rule that you can't use the vision excuse," Gunn grumbled as he fished a twenty out of his pocket and handed it over. "I can't believe that's twice they've fallen for that."
"What can I say?" Cordelia shrugged. "When it works, it works. Now, shall we get out of here before the screaming starts?"
Gunn nodded. "Definitely," he said, holding an arm out for Cordy to take as they walked out of the hotel and left Angel and Wesley to the job of saving the world. Again.

Why do I think Angel and Wes were only too happy to save the world - again!
Very nice as usual.

Date: 2004-03-29 06:49 am (UTC)Wonderful! Oh the
peoplethings a Champion must do to save the world. Thought it couldn't get any funnier only to hit on Gunn's killer punchline."I can't believe that's twice they've fallen for that."
Hah! Brilliant :)
