Dear self,

Have the presence of mind to think that if you're pulling a stray bit of cobweb off the wall that the spider also sitting there might actually still be attached to it. Y'know, it's a good job you don't mind spiders, given that one landed on your face when you yanked it off the wall when it was just minding its own business.
