The cake is a lie

I attempted to bake a cake earlier. I say 'attempted' as part of it didn't go entirely to plan. The mixing was fine (even if I ended up ringing
lost_house as I don't have any scales and her measuring jug has a handy-dandy conversion on it for flour and sugar), but it all went a bit to pot once it went in the oven. I'm not really used to my oven yet, although I have noticed it cooks stuff quicker than expected.
Cue one cake, burnt on the top and still uncooked in the middle.
On the upside, the bits that were solid, were nice ::grin::
Ah, well, better luck* next time I guess...
