So, earlier this evening I attempted to make fudge. And ended up with a block of what is more like burnt cinder toffee. I'm hoping the next attempt is more successful.

Also, I'm going to buy a sugar thermometer...

My Secret Angels fic for deancastiel is kicking my arse, so I decided to make cake instead. Which, y'know, is totally non-productive fic-wise, but on the other hand, ooh, cake!

(For those interested, I now have a mars bar rice krispie cake and two malteaser cakes...)

I attempted to bake a cake earlier. I say 'attempted' as part of it didn't go entirely to plan. The mixing was fine (even if I ended up ringing lost_house as I don't have any scales and her measuring jug has a handy-dandy conversion on it for flour and sugar), but it all went a bit to pot once it went in the oven. I'm not really used to my oven yet, although I have noticed it cooks stuff quicker than expected.

Cue one cake, burnt on the top and still uncooked in the middle.

On the upside, the bits that were solid, were nice ::grin::

Ah, well, better luck* next time I guess...

Today I made a casserole for the first time and it was a complete success*.

We're totally ignoring the welding the lid to the casserole dish and having to lever it off with a knife before we could actually eat bit, 'kay...

I have made* apple and herb stuffing. I'm now feeling oddly domestic.

*And by 'made', I mean 'added water to a mix and stuck it in the oven.'

Hmmm... I have the random urge to make cookies...

I've just made truffles. From scratch. From actual individual ingredients. Dude...

Also, I've decided to scrap what I have so far of my mcshep_match story as it's totally not working for me and start again with the bunny that hit me on the bus home*.

*Please note, this was not an actual flying bunny that literally hit me. Because then I'd have a headache. And possibly a new pet bunny. Called Manfred.
