I've been sorting out some more stuff and I've just found a bunch of tickets for the concerts my mum went to when she was younger, including Queen at Newcastle City Hall on November 7th 1974, for the princely sum of £1.50.

The Bay City Rollers, who were at the same place three days later, were 30p cheaper at £1.20. Supertramp, however, were a total steal at only £1 (on Jan 30th 1975), and the most expensive was Mick Ronson on 13th April 1974 at the shocking price of £1.65.

Ah, inflation. Gotta love it...

Heh - you should check out ticket prices for the O2.

And let's not even consider how much I paid for my Leonard Cohen tickets to a tickmaster reseller *G*

I know that, at one point, the tickets to Hamlet in January, on the same night we were there and for worse seats than we had, were going to about £400 a shot.

Ah, the things we do as fans ::g::

My second-row center ticket to see Bob Dylan in ... whenever Blonde on Blonde came out ... was $8. Price of two albums. I was scandalized.

::grin:: In my head I know that the price was quite a lot of money, but I still look at it and go "Dude! £1.50!"

Yeah, but that was when we spent less than £5 on an entire week's groceries and a house cost round about £10K!! She would have struggled to find that money!

My husband was curious about someone who was a fan of both the Bay City Rollers and Queen...

Ah, Supertramp! Long overdue for revival.

Before I was born Mum was manageress of a local independent record shop, so her tastes were pretty wide. (I also blame her for the fact that I find men in make-up attractive. With a parent who raised me on Bowie, it was kind of inevitable ::grin::)
