So, if Michael isn't going to leave Dean a drooling mass of goo, then doesn't it make sense for Dean to say yes now? That way, they can kill Lucifer while he's still in Nick, thereby negating the entire "Sam says yes" scenario.

While that makes good human logic, I don't think the angels are prepared to be that flexible--they want Dean and Sam, damn it, and that's what they're going to have. There's also been the implication that, the end of the world isn't just going to be between Michael and Lucifer; there's a lot of collateral damage, and humanity might be even more screwed over than it already is.

And while I wish Dean would just say yes, because hey, he's got an out now, finally, I can also understand him saying no. He's been yanked around his entire life, tortured in Hell pretty much because the angels/prophecy said he had to be... I think at that point I'd be feeling rather uncooperative myself :D

And Dean's always been a contrary bugger, so I suppose he'd say no just because he's been told to say yes ::grin::
